2.  _____     100 Meter Dash:     Read a book with the call number in the 100’s (Feelings & Character Building))
                        Write the title, author, and draw a picture of one fact from the book.

3.  _____     200 Meter Run:     Read a book with the call number in the 200’s (All Religions & Holidays)
                        Write the title, author and draw a picture of one fact from the book.

4.  _____     300 Meter Hurdles:     Read a book with the call number in the 300’s (Fairy Tales & Holidays)                                                   Write the title, author and draw a picture of one fact from the book.

5.  _____     400 Meter Steeplechase:     Read a book with the call number in the 400’s (Using Our Language)
                        Write the title, author and draw a picture of one fact from the book.

11. _____     Medley Cross Country:     Read a folktale from another country
From what country was the folktale?  Draw a picture about the story.

12. _____     Plunge for Distance:     Read a book longer than you have ever read before
Write the title and how many pages are in the book.  Draw a picture about the story.  Show the book to your teacher.

13. _____     Synchronized Swimming:    Read aloud with someone for 20 min/day for 1 wk                                                                                                                                                                             
                        Write the name of the book/books you read.  Parent signature required for each day.

14. _____     Triple Jump:     Read three books written by one author
                        Write the titles of the books.  Draw a picture of the author.

15. _____     50 Meter Freestyle:     Read 50 pages of anything
                        Draw a picture about the story.
           
16. _____     Decathlon:     Read 10 books of your choice
List the titles and authors. Draw a picture of your favorite part of each book.

17. _____     Heavyweight Boxing Event:    Read a book weighing at least one pound
Weigh your book/books in the library.  Write down the total weight, title/titles and author/authors.  Draw a picture about the story.

18. _____     High Jump:     Read a book measuring over 10 inches tall
Measure your book in the library.  Make a bookmark including the title, author, size and your favorite part (written or drawn).



Medals will be awarded for the following:
             *Ribbon – 4 Events Completed
 *Bronze – 8 Events Completed
 *Silver – 10 Events Completed
*Gold – 12 Events Completed

Due Dates:          Friday, January 25th (for a ribbon)
                     Monday, May 13th (for a medal or ribbon)

Go For The GOLD!!         
Dear Parents,
        The Literacy Committee is so excited to bring you and your child the GOLD MEDAL CHALLENGE!  The Reading Olympics will last the entire school year.  A ribbon ceremony will take place in February for students completing 4 events.   These events must be turned in to the teacher by Friday, January 25th. Medals will be awarded in May at the Awards Assemble.  All completed events must be turned in by Monday, May 13th.

Medals will be awarded for the following:
        *Bronze – 8 Events Completed
        *Silver – 10 Events Completed
        *Gold – 12 Events Completed

Each Olympic event will have a requirement due after the reading is completed for that event.

 ****Take your completed assignment to your teacher to be initialed on a Master List.
